On September 1, 2010, the 31st national convention of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) , which was meeting in Grand Rapids, Michigan, approved a resolution proposed by the NARFE's District of Columbia Federation to add D.C. statehood to NARFE's national legislative agenda.

D.C. Statehood has become a major issue in the 2010 campaign as District candidates speak out on the need for full self-government for the 600,000 residents of our national capital.
