D.C. Council Members' Statements on the Voting Rights Bill E-mail
Several D.C. Council Members have issued formal statements or otherwise commented on the voting rights act that the House leadership pulled April 20, 2010.  Among them are Council Chairman Vincent Gray, At Large Council Member Michael A. Brown, Ward 5 Council Member Harry Thomas, Jr. and Ward 3 Council Member Mary Cheh, who began an online petition against the bill.  Please read more.

D.C. Columnists Weigh In on "Voting Rights" Debacle E-mail
Several Washington, D.C. columnists has written postmortems on the voting rights bill.  Washington Post columnist Colby King suggests in an April 24th column that D.C. needs a constitutional amendment. Post columnist Robert McCartney finds in his April 22, 2010 column that there is lots of blame to go around and a need for new ideas.  In an April 25, 2010, op-ed, WTOP's Mark Plotkin looks to President Obama. Even Washington Post political cartoonist Tom Toles adds his comment.
